HELP US SAVE HER ARM AND LIFE
Her name: Heilin
Age: 17 months
We need your help. Please help us save this little girl's arm and life.
Heilin lives in a jungle village in Belize, her arm was run over by a car on May 12, 2011. For the last several months, the Belizean doctors have tried to cast (and re-cast) her arm, but her arm is too severely damaged for them to fix it in Belize. Her parents brought her to our Belize Medical Mission Clinic in July 2011, where our doctors treated her.
She urgently needs surgery to save her arm. She needs to be flown to the USA, and we need to arrange for a doctor, hospital, etc to perform the surgery for charity.
If her arm is not fixed (surgically corrected), there is a high risk of gangrene setting in leading to her losing her arm and likely her life. If she lives and does not lose her arm to infection, but the arm is not surgically corrected, she will likely have to live with severe pain and have no function in her deformed arm for the rest of her life.
Even once we get a doctor and hospital to donate their part, there'll still be other expenses we'll have to cover. Your gift, of any amount, will help us save her arm and her life.
We are starting a Church in her village and this would be a wonderful way to help a little girl, and at the same time, help open many hearts to Jesus through your generosity.
Thank you and may God bless you for helping us save her arm and life.

Please pray for us as we're making lots of phone calls, trying to set all this up. We've done this before for children with life threatening issues, such as heart problems. It takes a lot of effort, and prayer, to make it all happen.
UPDATE TIME-LINE:
September 14, 2011: We flew Heilin and her mother, Mariana, to Dallas, TX, today. Pray for Heilin as the surgeons prepare to repair her arm. Pray they can save her arm and that she'll fully recovery.
September 19, 2011: Heilin has not had surgery yet. The Dallas, TX, doctors gave her antibiotics to clear up a skin infection on her broken arm. Since she is so young, they need to get her healthy before performing such a serious surgery. They're going to re-check her Thursday. Once the infection clears up, she'll be going into surgery pretty quickly.
September 26, 2011: Heilin will be checking into the Hospital tomorrow in Dallas, TX. Her first surgery will be this Wednesday (Sept 28). Please continue to keep her in your prayers. We're so excited that she's finally going to get surgery, 4 months later! Thank you to everyone who has given or prayed to help make Wednesday possible!
September 29, 2011: Heilin's 5 hour surgery went well yesterday. Instead of a full body cast, they're just using pins. They're expecting a FULL recovery in 8-10 weeks! Thank you for praying for her! Click HERE to see photos of Heilin on her surgery date and after her surgery.
November 2, 2011: Heilin is scheduled to have surgery on November 16 to remove the pins from her arm. She will have to remain in the USA another 4-8 weeks (after Nov. 16) as she continues to heal. Please pray her arm continues to heal well and that she regains full range of motion.
FINAL UPDATE:
November 16, 2011: Great news!!! Heilin's follow-up surgery (to remove the pins) went even better than expected today! Praise God! We'll be flying her back to Belize within the next week. She has a new cast, which we'll remove in a month (in Belize). And then she'll have physical therapy (at home) for her elbow. Thank you for giving and praying, for helping us save her arm and life!! |
